About the Oregon Medical Association

Since 1874, the Oregon Medical Association has been serving the needs of Oregon physicians and their patients, vigorously advocating for the medical community and helping to ensure that physicians may continue to practice medicine in their patients' best interests. Our mission statement reads:

"The OMA exists to promote and provide leadership in the art and science of medicine and to improve and preserve the health of the citizens in this state."

Today OMA has more than 6,000 physician, resident, medical student, and physician assistant members, representing virtually every specialty and practice arrangement within Oregon's borders. As in 1874, OMA continues to represent and advocate in the interests of physicians and their patients; promote the science and art of medicine; advance medical education and knowledge; and promote public health and safety for all Oregon citizens.
