Feed Your Mind with Extreme Knowledge

Tradition is an unhappy word – a collection of stale thoughts and expectations, the slow disintegration of originality. It offers dull lessons and gives no relief. Those who rely on tradition devote themselves to preserving the past (and forgetting the future).

This has bred an entire generation of weak students and their weaker pursuits. Too often, students choose safe courses and degrees. Their only goals are of careers and steady income. All passion is erased.

This is a mistake.

Conventional lessons streamline the education process – numbing it to precision but not excitement. Choosing to seek extreme knowledge (unique courses, unexpected assignments, impractical ideas) ensures variety, and this is valuable for all people.

Experience defines capabilities. Students who offer themselves more than traditional curriculums will expand their potential – becoming aware of what’s beyond degrees and increasing their skills. And, since this information can be found on venues like elearners, there is no excuse left to refuse it.

Universities were founded with the intention to inspire. They have been transformed, however, into bland buildings that many students can’t wait to escape once they have earned their majors. An education is viewed as obligatory and nothing more. This is bordering on the tragic. Extreme knowledge must be sought to redefine college and prove its worth. Individuals must feed their minds with new ideas and possibilities.

This is the only way to gain a future worth having – one of varied experiences and interesting facts. Tradition must be replaced with intrigue.

If you’ve spent time considering whether or not to attend technical school following your high school graduation, you’re doing some good thinking. However, if you’re not certain what technical school is, it’s best to think of it as a shorter version of college, for people who are sure of what they want to do in life. Want to be a welder, or a hair stylist, or manage a bustling office at a larger corporation? Technical school will enable you to learn in a much more focused way than college, which tries to teach you a bit of everything about the world in a longer period of time.

For the person who isn’t still waffling over what to be when they grow up, technical school can cut massive amounts of money off the total of one’s higher education cost. College, in teaching its learners all about the world, charges a much higher price. Technical school is a bit more practical, since it costs less, takes far less time, and more directly teaches relevant job world skills.

Graduating with a technical degree, one can expect that they will land a job pretty fast, too. That’s also advantageous over a four year college degreed person’s experience. While they may have racked up some debt to attend school, they’re also going to take longer to find work in most instances. That’s because there is so much competition to enter the corporate workforce. And as they search, the debt starts to accrue interest! By keeping the experience shorter and more focused, you can cut the total educational bill, and enter the workforce faster.

Keeping College Costs in Line

Getting a higher education is proven to generate more opportunities for a person during their lifetime. College graduates earn, on the average, more than ten thousand dollars per year more than their high school educated counterparts. Over the full length of one’s career – think forty to fifty years – those numbers really add up! That’s nice, but one of the detractions of attending college to garner that higher career pay is that it costs so much at the outset. When people are young, they haven’t earned much money yet, in most cases. Footing the bill to attend college presents difficult financial challenges. There are some simple ways to keep the bill from expanding without need, however.

Recognize that college is about an education, not so much about partying and joining social clubs. Fraternities and sororities will seek to get you to buy into their pricy memberships. But if you’re a social person with reasonable social skills, you’ll make plenty of friends and career style networking connections without joining these organizations. One glance at a college newspaper, or even national news headlines, will show that these groups are still up to their old tricks involving demeaning initiation rites and excessive partying. All that, for a lofty price!  If you want to party, you can do it at a much lower cost.

It’s also common to buy a pricy, new or almost new car during one’s college years. This is unnecessarily expensive. Only buy much older, lower cost transportation. You can upgrade your vehicle after you’ve worked for a few years.

Wondering, deep into your second year of high school, how you’re ever going to afford to attend college? Consider yourself wise beyond your years. Most high school kids are more interested in how their hair is looking after their new haircut than they are in thinking about the future! Since your mind is obviously in the smart lane already, you may find that you qualify for scholarships to help pay for college. There are two basic groups of scholarships granted; athletic and academic based. If you’re not an athletic elite, don’t bother trying to go that route – it will take more work than you have time for to land an athletic scholarship.

But if brains are your strong suit, you’ll find that there are many scholarships that have been set up by an almost unlimited number of organizations to help you get further education. That phrase, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste” applies here. No one likes to see a bright mind left unused, so scholarships have been set up largely to help those who come from disadvantaged backgrounds, or who offer exceptional promise of academic achievement. And that’s the focus of full ride scholarships; help the exceptionally gifted.

But there are many lesser scholarships which can cover tuition, minus room and board costs, for less than A+ students. The depth and variety is stunning. It only takes a bit of time to search them out, and a bit more time to apply. But doing so could chop a substantial amount from your total college costs, making the effort well worth it.

There are many choices available if you want to attend college and live on campus while obtaining your education.

Selecting Your Home of Learning

If living on a beautiful campus is an important detail to you, then you should consider the 50 most beautiful college campuses and what each can offer to you. Not only are these beautiful college campuses, but many of them happen to be top schools in the nation as well.

Is weather an important factor in your college choice? Many people who live in warm climates like the idea of seeing some snow while others who live in cold climates may prefer a warmer college campus.

There are many educational choices to consider, as well. Which college campuses are best known for the course of study you are interested in pursuing? Make sure the college you choose has a degree program on par with your career goals. Not only must the degree program be offered, but the specific courses that you need or want to take should also be available.  If the college isn’t offering the specific courses that you want to take, then the school is not going to meet your needs in the long-term.

Take your time when choosing the right school for your needs. Making the right choice will give you the best chance of transitioning successfully into your chosen career upon graduation.
